Institutional Start-Up

New Teaching Hospital Assessment

Accreditation requirements and reimbursement rules are evolving and there is a growing need for more residency positions! That makes now an excellent time to assess and explore the possibility of adding Graduate Medical Education residency programs to your institution.

Why consider becoming a teaching hospital:

  • Physician workforce development – studies have shown that residents who train in a community tend to stay and work in a community
  • Academic culture – Residency programs help create an environment of learning and continuous improvement
  • Physician satisfaction – Engaging the medical staff physicians as teachers keeps them intellectually stimulated and promotes physician satisfaction
  • Improved access to care through the recruitment of faculty and resident physicians. – The Affordable Care Act allows for persons who were formerly uninsured to establish care. Improved access can reduce overutilization of Urgent Care and the Emergency Department.
  • And the list goes on.
