Pre-Accrediation?

| January 19, 2015 | Print Article

With the advent of the single accreditation system, AOA institutions and programs will begin to apply for pre-accreditation over the next few months. What does pre-accreditation mean for AOA Institutions and Programs?

  • Pre-accreditation is a special status that the ACGME has developed for use ONLY during the transition period.
  • Pre-accreditation status will NOT exist after June 30, 2020.
  • Pre-accreditation status as an Institution allows for your programs to apply for pre-accreditation status. Remember institutional pre-accreditation must be obtained before your programs may apply.
  • Pre-accreditation does NOT mean that you are accredited. Initial accreditation is granted only once the review committee reviews your application and/or conducts a site visit.
