In the ever changing field of Graduate Medical Education (GME), it becomes critical to keep up with the latest information about accreditation, educational initiatives and everyday residency program activities.  Use the list below as a starting point for developing your own resources for GME.  Schedule time into your weekly schedule, 15 or 30 minutes is all it takes, to develop a habit of checking your resources for any updated information that you can use for your own program and share with others in your institution.

AAMC – Association of American Medical Colleges.  Site dedicated to undergraduate and graduate medical education.

ACGME– Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.  The accrediting body for allopathic residency programs in the US and select international residency programs.  Find requirements, forms, and general information about accredited residency programs and institutions.

AHME – Association for Hospital Medical Education.  A resource, advocate and educational group dedicated to medical education professionals.  Publishes the Guide to Medical Education in the Teaching Hospital.

AIAMC – Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers.  A resource for the national initiative of improving patient care through GME.

CMS – Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  Everything you ever wanted to know about DGME and IME residency payments, calculations, rules and legislature.

CMSS – Council of Medical Specialty Societies.  The main purpose of CMMS is to provide a forum for collaboration to influence policy, medical education and accreditation from a broad, cross-specialty perspective.  Various sub-groups focus on specific topics.

IHI – Institute for Health Care Improvement.   Sponsor of the IHI Open School – a resource for  students, residents, faculty and other educators in how to do quality improvement projects.
