Core Faculty Virtual Coaching
Course Includes:

  • Four, one-hour, interactive group sessions over four weeks
  • One, 30-minute, one-on-one individual session to problem-solve a concern
  • Limited enrollment for more interactivity
  • Course materials to include essential supporting materials
  • Participation in a GME community network

Course curriculum will cover these four focus areas with the following learning objectives:

Supervision

  • Define the types of supervision (direct, indirect, oversight)
  • Explain the effect of the clinical learning environment on supervision
  • Use strategies for supervising trainees in different settings
  • Compare supervision approaches for various levels of learners
  • Assess the effectiveness of your supervision strategy

Evaluation

  • Identify the role of the CCC and PEC in evaluation
  • Summarize the importance of written and verbal feedback
  • Implement effective feedback techniques
  • Differentiate between formative and summative feedback
  • Judge the effectiveness of a curriculum assessment approach

Mentoring

  • Define mentoring, advising, and coaching
  • Explain when to mentor, advise, or coach
  • Create an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) for a trainee
  • Distinguish the impact of role modeling in professional development
  • Review the progress of an ILP and adjust it as needed

Faculty Responsibilities

  • List key faculty responsibilities
  • Explain the purpose of the ACGME faculty survey
  • Participate in faculty development programs
  • Compare recruitment strategies to attract high-quality faculty
  • Assess the effectiveness of faculty educational activities in program development
